WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boost in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.
Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. item upgrading is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item, but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items that are used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be bought by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which displays an item's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.
Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade are acquired via a variety of means, which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies even if the items come from an entirely different set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is account-wide. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a couple of choices. They can choose to use Flightstones, which are a general upgrade currency that is available to everyone players, or crests that are more specialized and are consumed during upgrades on specific levels of the item. Crests are an important element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to equipment of a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.
Using these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. It is best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to avail the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
